Hong Kong is a member of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) and the APG. The Government of Hong Kong SAR is committed to promoting effective implementation of legal, regulatory and operational measures for combating money laundering, terrorist financing and other related threats to the integrity of the international financial system.

 

Both the Companies Ordinance (Cap 622) and the Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorist Financing Ordinance (Cap 615) impose requirements for the directors and the company to identify and record the beneficial owners (significant controllers). The two ordinances also provide for the licensing of Trust or Company Service Providers (TCSP), the licensing requirement and the regulation of activities relating to virtual assets (VA) and virtual asset service providers (VASP), and other relevant compliances.
